WorldClock Version 5.20 (Build 5) Update Released.
This release fixes an access violation bug when you toggle the night view between the
night lights and translucent options.
Also fixes a problem that week numbers for 2009 are showing incorrectly (off by one)
in the taskbar date display.
As usual, to get this update just download the same file (with the same password) as
you did for the original version 5 release and then re-install.

WorldClock Version 5.20 Released.
WorldClock Screen Saver Version 5.20 Released.
The weather did not update properly if WorldClock was kept running during a date
change. This release fixs this bug.
There has also been a major change from version 5.10 in the way the program behaves
on startup and the way the various minimize options are handled. This new version
deals with this in a much more elegant (and hopefully more stable) manner.
As usual, to get this update just download the same file (with the same password)
as you did for the original version 5 download (wc5.zip) and then re-install.
The screen saver update introduces better error checking on the place list in order
to avoid "Index out of bounds" errors. Note that an unfortunate side effect of this
change is that it will scramble your place selection list and you will have to
re-select your places. This also applies to the main WorldClock program if you
have selected the World Map wallpaper.
03.Nov.2008 Update: Build 5.2.0.3 released to fix a problem with the multiple
clocks' "Show time if your local time was" feature as well as a problem with the
system tray icon logic. Also, the place database has been updated to reflect DST
rule changes for Perth, Australia. Please download the installation file and
re-install to get this update.

WorldClock Screen Saver Version 5.10 Update Released.

some circumstances (especially under Vista). If you have encountered this problem,
please download the wcss5.zip file again as per original instructions to get the
latest build (5.1.0.1).

- AutoTimeSync now has selectable hourly intervals (1-24) and daily scheduled time.

- If you've selected an AutoTimeSync time interval, now syncs on program start.

- Added support in TimeSync for Socks 4, 4A, 5 proxies including Socks 5
proxy Authentication.

- Added option to customize the action taken when you double click on the taskbar clock if taskbar customization active.
- Added option to invert moon phase images for users in the Southern Hemisphere.
- System tray icon logic has been improved.
- Due to the unreliable nature of determining whether one is connected to the Internet, and the fact that most users are now always connected anyway, I have decided to remove the AutoTimeSync "On Logon" option.
Important Notes About Windows Vista Compatibility
Windows Vista has
introduced a new Windows Manager that controls the drawing of windows when the
Aero color scheme is enabled. (This is what creates that nice transparent
glass-like border effect around Vista windows.) With the Aero color scheme
enabled the "non-client" areas of a window (such as the caption bar) are
off-limits to applications. For this reason, certain features that need to
access these "non-client" areas to function are disabled under Windows Vista if
you have Aero enabled. These features are:
- Date/Time in Caption Bar
- Taskbar Clock Customization
However, please note that these features will continue to work under Vista if you
have Vista Basic or any other non-Aero color scheme selected.
Also note that WorldClock is now Vista compliant in its handling and placement
of configuration and data files. If you are updating from an older version of
WorldClock, the new installer will automatically move your old configuration
and data files into their proper folders.
New Screen Saver
The new screen saver has no real functional changes but has been modified to better
conform to Windows Vista standards, and to better co-exist on a system that has both
the screen saver and the main WorldClock program installed.

WorldClock and WorldClock Screen Saver Updates Released.
A bug was introduced in WorldClock version 5 for the time in caption bar feature where only the
selected time zone time would be displayed.
In WorldClock, the main calendar's 'first day of week is Monday' option did not stick depending on
your configuration. This has also been fixed.
A bug was introduced in WorldClock Screen Saver version 5 where the regular analog (non photorealistic)
clock no longer displayed. This has been fixed.
To get either of these updates, just download the same file (with the same password) as you did for
the original version 5 and then re-install. If you are updating WorldClock, please make sure
that it is not running when you re-install.

WorldClock Version 4.10 Released.
Lots of new features and improvements:

WorldClock and WorldClock Screen Saver Both Updated.
All WorldClock applications have been updated to reflect the fact that Indiana now adheres to
standard North American Daylight Savings Time rules.
If this affects you, download the relevant installation file again and re-install. (The
download is at the same link and the file has the same password as per my original download
instructions.)
Please Note: These changes have only been made to the latest versions of WorldClock and the
Screen Saver. If you are running older versions of these programs, you must update in order to

WorldClock Version 4.03 Released.
A couple of issues have been addressed with this release.
First, closing your Windows session (by logging off or shutting down) while WorldClock was
minimized to the system tray would often cause WorldClock to generate an error. This has now been
fixed.
Second, the WorldClock wallpaper file was being saved to the Windows folder. This would cause
problems for users with restricted priviledges that prevented them from saving any files to the
Windows folder. The file is now saved in the WorldClock folder and this should no longer be an issue.
If you have encountered either of these two problems, please download the version 4 installation file
again and re-install. (The download is at the same link and the file has the same password as per
my original instructions.)
|
| 27.jun.2005 |
WorldClock Version 4.01 Updated.
The way that WorldClock checked to see if you were connected to the Interenet so it could retrieve
your weather information proved problematic and has been changed. If you are getting a
'You must be connected to the Internet for the Weather wallpaper feature to work' error message,
please download the version 4 installation file again and re-install. (The download is at the
same link and the file has the same password as per my original instructions.)
If you've updated properly, the build number displayed in Help -> About should be 4.0.1.4.

WorldClock Version 4.01 Released.
Several issues cropped up with the introduction of several new features in version 4. These
issues have mostly to do with problems in the Weather and taskbar functions; this 4.01 release
addresses all of these issues. If you have experienced any problems with version 4, please
download the installation program again (as per my original e-mailed instructions -- same file,
same password) and re-install.
My apologies if these problems have caused you any inconvenience.

WorldClock Version 4.00 Released.
WorldClock Screen Saver Version 3.00 Released.
With version 4, WorldClock introduces three major new features:
- Taskbar Clock Customization: Customize the Windows taskbar date/time display any
way you wish. You also have the option to display various weather parameters in the
taskbar (provided the new weather feature has been activated).
- Weather Panel on Desktop Wallpaper: Reports current weather conditions along with
a three day forecast for your selected location (or any other location of your choosing).
You can program WorldClock to update your weather display at specified intervals. (I'm sure
it's unnecessary to mention, but obviously you need an Internet connection for the weather
feature to work. Always-on broadband connection is recommended although not required.)
You also have the choice of displaying a one to three month companion calendar.
- Photorealistic Clock on Desktop Wallpaper: Very cool 3D life-like clock display.
You can select the clock location and update frequency.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. The image below is a snapshot of a typical desktop
running with WorldClock's new features activated. Click on the image for a larger image that
will give you a better idea of what these three new features look like:

Click here to see an even bigger actual size
picture.
Please download the trial version to see these features in action
with your own desktop.
Additional changes in version 4.0:
- Added one/three month calendar option for Calendar on Desktop Wallpaper feature.
- Improved month display placement and spacing for Calendar on Desktop Wallpaper feature.
- Added quarter-hourly chimes if any toll feature activated.
- Added new option: Close button minimizes to tray.
- Much improved algorithm to ensure that city time display panels for the World Map on
Desktop Wallpaper feature do not overlap.
- Doubled the number of selectable cities for the World Map on Desktop Wallpaper feature
from ten to twenty.
- Fixed problem with some preferences not 'sticking'.
Changes in Version 3.0 of the WorldClock Screen Saver reflect similar changes as that for
the main WorldClock program:
- Photorealistic Clock. Very cool 3D life-like clock display.
- Much improved algorithm to ensure that city time display panels do not overlap.
- Doubled the number of selectable cities from ten to twenty.

WorldClock Version 3.00 Released.
Major update.
Added a 'Day/Night Display on Desktop' wallpaper feature. This will create a wallpaper
image displaying a high resolution map of the world -- high enough in resolution that it
will accomodate even the highest resolution displays (up to 2000 pixels across). The day
and night areas of the world are clearly shown on the map (much the same as the Day/Night
display in WorldClock but much bigger). You can also have the local time of up to ten
cities displayed on transparent panels over the map, as well as a clock displaying your
current time.
If you have my World Clock Screen Saver, this wallpaper looks identical and
in fact shares configuration options with the screen saver.
Please refer to the revised Description section for
more information on these new features.
I have also dealt with a number of issues and requests.
|
| 19.feb.2004 |
WorldClock Screen Saver Version 2.0 Released.
Added a 'Earth Night Lights' feature to the WorldClock Screen Saver. In this mode, the night
shadow is painted using a satellite photo composite of the Earth at night.
I've also changed the way the terminator (the separator between night and day) is drawn. It
used to be a hard edge but I now fade between day and night areas for a more realistic and
smoother look.
If you are a registered WorldClock Screen Saver 1.x user, simply re-download the installation
file as per previous instructions (that you received from me when you registered) to get the
update. The download file name/password is the same as before.

| 12.jun.2003 |
WorldClock Screen Saver Version 1.1 Released.
Updated the screen saver place list to include more than 1000 places (1060 to be exact).
Note that the place list database is now a separate file external to the program and
will be placed in your Windows directory by the install progam. The reason for making
this change will become evident in future as I add the ability for users to modify the
place database themselves -- something many of you have long
been clamouring for.
I've also fixed a few problems with several countries changing their DST rules this year
(most notably Pakistan and Lithuania).
And finally, I've also applied the DST fixes mentioned above to the main WorldClock program.
Support for the external place database file in WorldClock has not been implemented yet
although it almost certainly will in a near future release (along with a place editor).
If you are a registered WorldClock Screen Saver 1.0 or WorldClock 2.x user, simply
re-download the installation file as per previous instructions (that you received
from me when you registered) to get the update. The download file name/password is
the same as before.
